Ottoman Empire
The Armenian Genocide took place in the Caucasus region of Eurasia, under the territorial boundaries of the Ottoman Empire. Minoritized by the Turks, the modern Republic of Armenia today lies in a much smaller region, presently bordered by modern-day Turkey to the West, and Georgia to the North. A large part of the Armenian Genocide took place in the Syrian deserts, as Christian Armenians were exiled and left to die in its arduouslands.
Above, the mass deportation routes across the Turkish Ottoman Empire can be seen, as well as the concentration of massacred Armenians throughout the regions.
If you pan the modern-day map to the left, the minoritization of the Armenians can still be seen, as its borders have been clearly minimized in relation to Turkey.
